The sloop, Aeriel, designed as ‘Selkie’ by Jim McCurdy has proven to be a very capable racer and comfortable cruiser.

She has won many short and long distance events.  Always with an eye for performance, her owners had us modify the skeg-hung rudder to a spade rudder. The improvement was immediately evident.  Aeriel placed first overall in the third Van Isle 360 in 2001.

After 12 years of steady use her exterior paint and varnish were completely redone in 1991.   As with many boats we have built, Aeriel’s interior has light-painted bulkheads and flat surfaces with mahogany trim and cabinetry. The cabinsole is teak with ash strips over plywood. Frames, floors and keelson are all of white oak. For a description of the design please see References.
