The sloop, Aeriel, designed
as ‘Selkie’ by Jim McCurdy
has proven to be a very
capable racer and
comfortable cruiser.
She has won many
short and long distance
events. Always with an
eye for performance,
her owners recently had
us modify the skeg
hung rudder to a spade
rudder

The improvement was
immediately evident.
In the third Van Isle 360,
with short and long legs
circumnavigating Vancouver
Island, Aeriel placed first
overall. After 12 years of
steady use her exterior paint
and varnish was completely
redone in 1991
.

interior mahogany trim for aeriel
As with many boats we have built, Aeriel’s interior has light painted
bulkheads and flat surfaces with mahogany trim and cabinetry.
The cabinsole is teak with ash strips over plywood. Frames,
floors and keelson are all of white oak. For a description of the
design please see References.
